SUGGESTIONS BY A JUDGE. Remarks made by Mr Justice Frazer at a recent sitting of the Arbitration Court in Palmerston to the "fleet that correspondence classes might he started by technical schools for trade apprentices in smaller towns resulted in the director of the Palmerston Technical School (Mr G. A. Hancox) suggesting at a meeting of the High School Board of Governors that the Department should be approached to see if assistance could be given in the matter. “For my part,” he added, “I would like to see pupils coming into our school, say, two nights every week.” Mr W. F. Durward said he did not like the idea of correspondence classes for trade apprentices. He thought there might he a danger of the American “engineers in three months, doctors in four.” style creeping in. The Board decided to approach the Department.
