Press Assn.) SYDNEY, September 18. The majority of sporting writers here are agitating for the re-opening of the McCarten case. They contend that Saturday’s race, in which Lim‘l'icw participated, demonstrated more •dearly than ever Limerick’s weakness for lugging in. Owing to McCarten’s suspension G. Price has now secured new riders for Reonui and Jocelyn in their A.J.C. engagements, Adams for the former and probably Duncan for the latter. BANKRUPT JOCKEY. STEVE DONOGHUE’S RECORD. A cable message received recently ■fated that a bankruptcy receiving order had been issued on a creditor’s petition against the famous jockey, Steve Donoghue. Steve Donoghue has been England’s national hero on account of his Derby wins. He has die distinction of being the only man ever to have won the “Golden Spurs,” offered more than 100 years ago for the winner of three -successive Derbys. Donoghue has guided four horses to the post in first place in England’s great event on the Epsom Downs. He also holds the honor of having taken part in the first international Derby of turf history, when he rode Papyrus against Zev, the American winning on sloppy turf by ,iix lengths and doing one mile and ahalf in 2.35 2-5. Donoghue is 42 and has been a jockey for over 20 years. A picture of him was exhibited in the Royal Academy in 1925. His son is also a professional jockey and won the Lincolnshire in 1926.
