CHILDREN’S DANCE.

IN THE RUATANIWHA HALL. On Friday evening a most successful and enjoyable children’s costume dance was held in the Ruataniwha Hall. Many and varied were the fancy dresses worn, and it was evident that the children, and their parents, had made great preparations for the function. Prizes were awarded as follows: — Alost original costume, girl, Patricia Schaw, “New Health,” Ist, Pauline Carter, “Paper Boy,” 2nd; hov, Leslie Cossar, “Aviation,” Ist, Charlie Taylor, “Pirate,” 2nd. Best fancy dress, girl, Peggy Gray, “Buy British Empire Goods,” Ist, Nellie Carroll, “Witch,” 2nd; boy, John Alitchell, “Swagger,” Ist, Terry Carroll, “Chinaman,” 2nd.

Competitions resulted as under:— Children’s spot waltzes, Norma Chittenden and partner Ist, Terry Carrol] and partner 2nd. Musical parcels, girl, Constance Chittenden; boy, Claude Chittenden; lady, Miss Robb; gentleman, Air G. Davidson. COSTUAIES.

The music for dancing was supplied by Misses McLellan, Hamilton (2), Taylor, Robb, and Mr Gleeson, while the supper was provided by the ladies of the district. At the close of the evening Mr Kerr, who presented the prizes, called for three cheers for the organiser.
