Circumstances Alter Cases. The Waipukurau “Press” quotes the “Mall’s” comments on the movement having for its object the changing of the title of the Waipawa County Sub-union, and adds:—“As a set-off to the clubs quoted there are the Central Hawke’s Bay Power Board and Central Hawke’s Bay Branch of the N.Z. Educational Institute, and the Central H.B. Cricket Association covering the Rugby area of the countryside between Te Aute and Takapau, which includes not only the Waipawa, but Waipukurau, and Patangata counties.” The “Press” might also have added that some years ago the Central A. and P. Association discarded the title of “Central” and adopted “Waipukurau.” Why?

Still Lagging Behind, Thanks to non-progressive members of the Legislative Council New Zealand is still debarred from the privileges enjoyed by countries which have adopted Summer-time. As evidence of the growing popularity of this lengthening of the summer day it may be mentioned that the secretary of the General Post Office,* Wellington, has received advice that the following alterations have been made in legal time:— Belgium.—Advanced by one hour at midnight on April 9th10th. Spain.—Advanced by one hour at 11 p.m. on April 9th. France. —Advanced by one hour at 11 p.m. on April 9th. Great Britain.—Advanced by one hour at 2 a.m. on April 10th. Thanks to the bogies raised by oppositionists New Zealand still lags behind, but surely the above evidence is sufficient to justify at least one year’s trial.
