WAIPAWA SAVAGE CLUB

Friday night’s meeting of the Savage Club was fairly well attended, despite the severity of the weather. An interesting programme was submitted by the committee in charge. Savage Dillon sang “Mid the Hush of the Corn” and “Sailors of the King.” Chief Savage Strang contributed a rollicking number, “Hats Off to the Stoker,” and later “When the Ebb Tide Flows.” He was also associated with Savage Woods in ‘ 1 Till We Meet Again. ’ ’ Savage Har ker blossomed out into a singer, contributing “When I Was a Boy at School” and “The Mountains of Mourne. ’ ’ Savage Woods gave a very acceptable rendering of “Rolling Down to Rio” and “Because.” Savage Blaekie sang ‘ ‘ God Send You Back To Me,” and also gave a fantasia of Scottish airs on the mouth organ. Savage Santini contributed two Italian numbers, including an operatic selection. Savage Deck talked and also gave a comic song, “Accidents.” Two excerpts from “Digger Smith” were contributed by Savage Critchley. Interesting variety was lent to the programme by a display of muscular development by Mr Moderich. The accompaniments for the various songs were capably played by' Savage S. Bott. The principal feature of the programme for the next korero will be a mock trial by jury, and something of more than usual interest is promised.
