A TANKER SUNK.

BY U BOAT. CAPTAIN MADE A PRISONER. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received This Day, 11 a.m.) WASHINGTON, August 12. The Navy Department has announced that the American tanker Campana was sunk by a U boat about eight miles off the Isle of Dieu, on the French coast. Fifty-seven survivors were landed. It is believed that the tanker’s captain and four gunners were imprisoned in the U boat, and it is feared they will suffer, a fate similar to that of Captain Fryatt.
