(Own Correspondent). The postponed social in aid of the Y.M.C.A. funds will be held in the Town Hall on Tuesday night, ns that is the date set down for the annual meeting of the Red Cross League. The committee have decided to hold the meeting in the supper,-room at 7 p.m. so as to get it over before the social starts. The secretary of the Red Cross reports that owing to the fact that a number of extra workers are assisting they were enabled to send away three cases of comforts for the month of July. The following contributions were made:—Mrs T. H. Lowry 4 bundles of wool, Mrs R. Evans 2 pairs pyjamas, Mrs Percy 2 pairs handknitted socks, Mrs J. W. Witherow 1 pair hand-knitted socks, Mrs Alex. Williams £3, Mrs G. Nilsson 1 hotwatcr hag, Mrs A. V. Collins 1 dozen jug covers. 8 tray cloths and old linen, Mrs .1. Todd 1 pair pyjamas, a pair huud-kitted socks and old linen, Mrs D. Sutherland 1 bundle of papers, Mrs Barrie 1 pair towels, Miss M. Withcrow 2 pairs hand-knitted socks, 2 pairs mittens, Miss Howard 1 pair hand-knitted socks, Miss M. Howard 1 pair hand-knitted socks and 4s, Miss M. Todd 1 pair hand-knitted socks, Miss Mundell 2 Balaclavas, Mr T. Anderson 1 pair hand-knitted socks, Mr Stedman 10s (id, Mr Malenoir 2 tins curry, Mr Watson 2 tins coffee and parcel of underwear, Mr Langridge lib. tin chocolate. The contents of the three cases were as follows:—13 suits pyjamas, 15 top-shirts, 10 hospital shirts, 32 under-flannels, 18 pairs socks, 2 pairs mittens, 1 pair bed socks, 1 ward suit, 1 pair towels, 1 toilet bag, 1 dressing gown, 1 scarf, 1 hot-water bag, 12 needle cases, 8 tray cloths, 12 jug covers, 2 bundles old linen, 2 Balaclavas, 1 bundle underclothing, 1 pair slippers, 1 dozen sheep tongues, 1 dozen jam, 1 dozen fruit, 1 dozen fish, 1 dozen packets soap, | dozen shaving cream, 2 tins curry, 2 tins coffee.
