WAIPUKURAU.

Yesterday morning the motor bus conveying the girls to the High School at Waipawa broke down about two miles out of Waipukurau. As all efforts failed to start it again, then was nothing left for the girls to d« but get out and walk. Some went oi to Waipawa on foot, a distance of about three miles; others preferred walking back home again to Waipukurau. Considering the inclement): of the weather the walk either wa; was anything but pleasant. A quiet but interesting wedding was solemnised at St. Mary’s Chtirrk on Wednesday, the united parties being Mr W. N. Hunter and Miss Ida Green, both of Waipukurau. The bridi was given away by her father, Mr J, B. Green, and was attended by h« two nieces, Sheila Atkinson and Non Green, ns bridesmaids. Mr Alf. Par sons, of Wallingford, carried out thi duties of best man. After the marriage ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. A. W. Stace, a pleasaal company (including the bride ail bridegroom) assembled at the r«idence of tbe bride’s parents, when afternoon tea was partaken of and the usual toasts honored. Mr ail Mrs Hunter afterwards left by motor car for Napier, with the best of god wishes from those, present. A further donation of £IOO has beer received by the secretary of the Rei Cross League from the Central A. am P. Association. Other donations a# as follow:—Miss I. Hooper, 2 paii mittens; Miss Urwin’s school child ren, 3 pairs mittens; Mrs Mac Donal and Miss Urwin, mittens and sod (wool supplied). Mr Alf. Parsons, of Wallingfordl has forwarded to the secretary of tlfl Central A. and P. Association a donifl tion of £l9 14s lid towards the Sliofl Patriotic Fund.
