School Sports.

The promoters of the school sports have every reason to be satisfied with the results of the inaugural meeting on Easter Tuesday. The showery weather iri the morning was responsible for the absence of many competitors from the surrounding schools, but in spite of this a capital day’s sport was provided, the attendance was large, while the rain had made no appreciable difference to the ground. The various officials worked with a will to keep things moving and succeeded admirably. The May Pole dances, drill and physical exercises were attractive features of the programme and elicited loud and deserved applause. The boys’ championship was won by F. Packer with 24 points, who takes a silver cup presented by Mr Bowen. His closest attendant was M. Munro with 17 points. The girls’ championship was won by E. Ingle ton, who scored 15 points, and takes Mr Bloor’s trophy, M. Bloor being second with 8 points. The Mayor (Mr W. I. Limbrick) briefly addressed the gathering and congratulated the promoters on having brought the sports to such a successful conclusion. The Mayoress presented the prizes. The headmaster (Mr J. D. Watson, M.A.) moved a vote of thanks to those who had canvassed for and to those who had given prizes, which was carried amidst loud cheering. Details : Half - Mile Championship. —M.
