Blackburn Gun Club.

(Own Correspondent) The Blackburn Gun Club held their shoot on Saturday, April 15th, 1911. The weather was beautifully fine in the morning but before the day’s sport was ended heavy rain set in, which spoiled the pleasure of the sport for the rest of the day. The attendance, both of shooters and onlookers, was the best the club has had for some time. The shooting opened with an Open Handicap Match of £5 ; first prize £3, second 30s, third 10s. Fifteen shooters paid their nominations. The shooting was not of the best, but when the numbers went up T. Pedersen was first with seven birds to his credit. H. Hardy and L. Hardy tied for second and third money with six birds, and they decided to divide the stakes. After refreshments were handed round by the ladies, which were much appreciated, a start was made with the Trophy Match. First prize was a double-rein bridle, presented by Mr W. Gundrie, of Tikokino, and a gentleman’s hunting crop as a second. In this event sixteen shooters tried conclusions, which resulted in J. Hansen, H. Hardy, L. Hardy and L. Beachen shooting the same number of birds. In the shootoff J. Hansen took first prize and L. Hardy second. The committee wish to thank the ladies for providing refreshments. The next shoot will be held on Saturday, 10th June, when a handsome trophy, presented by Mr A. Hansen, will be shot straight out. The following is the scoring in the Open Handicap : J.
