At the Chambers of «'otnm *roe Confareuoa, Mr Tolley moved that this conference urges the Government to give speoial attention to the home defenoe of the dominion, and oonsidera that the institution of a system of oompulsory military training is tha fairast, roost eiH oieut and eoonomioal means of defenoe The mover ooniidered that the volunteer system had brokan down. The motion was passed unanimously after discussion.
In refereuoe to the criticisms of tha Chambers of Oommarca Conference on the Bankruptcy Law and its admiuistra tion, Dr Fiudlay informed a I‘oat reporter that for the past week he had been receiving suggestions from various quarters, aud had been in oo operation with the Crown Law Offioe considering whioh suggestions should be adopted. Already a good deal of material had been completed in preparation of draft amendmenti of the law, to be submitted to the Cabinet for consideration. The question of the administration of the Act is also being considered.
