(Own Correspondent) Napier, Yesterday The monthly mooting of the Education Board wah held to-night, Bir William Russell in the chair. chairman's statement. Tho report of the chairman stated that Miss D. MoNaughton had beso appointed assistant at Te Ante, Miss H, Burns sole teacher at Elsthorpe, and Mr P. C. Brown, pupil toaoher at Waipukurau, has been transferred to Tikokino. Mr Florence, assistant at Waipukurau, had been granted two weeks' leave ou aooount of sickness. BUILDIMU AND FINANCE COMMITTEE. The following reoorameudaticne of the above oommittee dealing with sohool correspondence were adopted llatmna South—Application for tank deolined. Takapau—Material for fencing to be supplied if oommittee undertakes to put it up. Tikokino—Question of hcrie peddook deferred. Wakarara Contractor to be communicated with regarding defeots; no action taken regarding telephone. OBNERAL. The Board unanimously granted permission to committees to place copies of the Decalogue in schools. On tho motion of Mr Whittington it was decided “That whenever e school changes its grade the Board shall consider what readjustments of the stuff are nooossary.” Pastor Rios’s motion in oonneotion with the amendment of the regulation! governing school hours, was ruled out of order owing to six months being required to elapse before the regulations may be altered after coming into force. Peetor Ries gave notice of tho same motion for next meeting, when it will be in order. Mr Morgan gave notice to move at next meetiug—“That the mover and the inspectors be appointed to draw up i report on the advisableuess of making arrangements by whioh teachers who have not obtained certificates and are in charge of schools oould be sent either to a training school or to soma of the larger schools, for a period of say three months, to get instruction in school management.”

On the motion of Mr Whittington • vote of condoleuoe was passed to the relatives of the late Mr W. C. Maddison.
