A young man named Bell, who said he “was not sure whether that was his name or not, hut remembered being brought up in Wanganui, was sentenced to throe mouths, for being found iu possession of a bicycle stolen six months ago, at Westport. Daniel Sargent, a middle-aged farmer, residing ou 200 acres of laud, 25 miles from Timaru, was committed for trial, on a charge of wilfully killing a horse' by shooting, and wounding three other horses, belonging to a friendly neighbour. No motive is assigued for the aots. Auckland, This day Thomas Fitzgerald was before tho Court, on a charge of Betting tiro to Mr Lee Myers’ residence. Tho Crown Prosecutor stated that the accused admitted setting fire to tho house ou two occasions. It is understood that the defence will be a plea of insauity.
