Her-- ahu afternoon :- Tho following is the text of tho recin rooel treaty:—The Governments of the oolony of New Zealand and of tho Commonwealth of Australia, desiring to pro mote tiado and intoroourso between thoir respective countries as a moans of oioscr tinioo, have agreed to reoomtneud to their Parliaments reciprocal and pre ferentiai concessions in cortsin custom duties upon tho following oouditions. The respective teriffs to be amonded so as to impost) duties at tho rates named in tho schedule boroto on articles tho produce or pioduce and menu facture of and imported from New Zealand and Australia rospectivoly. No reductions or increasos or impositions of duties on articles namod iu tho schedule are to be conceded by either Govern mont to any othor country, until tho consent of the other Government has been obtained. Iu tho event of any suoh reductions or increases or impositions of dutiss being insistad upon by either Parliament, this agreement shall be terminable by the other Patliament on twelve months notice. It provides, however, that tho agreement shall not bo ad,rated should Australia or New Zeuland, ot both, make tho reduction of duties necessary to take advantage of tho recent South African Customs Con-
