NORSEWOOD.

[Own Correspondent.] A wedding which created a considerable amount of interest in this district took place at Ormondville on Wednesday afternoon last, when Miss Martin, eldest daughter of Mr F. Martin, of this township was united in the bonis of wedlock to Mr R. Smith, fifth son of Mr H. Smith, late of Ormondville, Canon Webb being the officiating minister. The bride was dressed in cream figured lustre and of oourse wore the orthodox wreath and veil. The bridesmaids were Misses Nellie and E. Martin, sisters of the bride and Miss M. Smith, sister of the bridegroom. The ohurch was very prettily decorated for the occasion. The service was choral the choir being in attendance and sang the hymn “How Welcome Was the Call.” On the return from ohurch the bridal party and a few friends sat down to the wedding breakfast whioh was laid out in the Village Hall, and where the good things provided were done full justice to. The wedding presents, of which there were over 100, were also on view. In the evening over 200 guests were reoeived by the young oouple in the hall, where singing and dancing were kept up until daylight did appear. The guests were from all parts of the country, and everybody appeared to fully enjoy themselves. The young couple left for their new home at Matahiwi to-day, with, I am sure, the best wishes for their future happiness of all those who know them.

What might have ( ended in a very serious accident occurred yesterday afternoon. Mrs Reisimar, of Waikopiro, was driving down the hill past the Weßieyan Church when the horse commenced kicking and turned aside up the hill, and before those in the trap could get out or stop it the horse and trap turned completely over. Luckily no one was hurt, although Mrs Reisimar had a little baby in her arms. Several persons who saw the accident hurried to their assistance and soon got things right again. Mr Ericksen, who was driving up the hill, kindly lent Mrs Reisimar his trap and horse to drive home, as some portions of her own vehicle were smashed.

A welcome rain came yesterday which will do an immense amount of good to the district.
