A meeting of the Town Board was held at 10.30 a.m. yesterday. Present—Messrs E. Bibby (chairman), A. Scrimgeour, and W. Rathbone. The clerk said that he had served notices upon Dr Todd and the secretary of the Union Brewery Co., requesting them to erect fences upon their properties on the river bed. At the request of Mr A. E. Jull, it was agreed to let the matter stand over until the question of leasing the reserve had been settled. overseer’s report. The overseer’s report was as follows : I have the honor to report to your meeting an account of work done during last month. My time has been mostly engaged in general work about the streets ; there has been nothing in particular done during the month than a few days’ metalling. I wish to mention to the Board that it will be necessary to remove some of the earth awuy from the slip in the Waverley cutting, as when it rains it drives the water out on to the road. I wish to draw the attention of the Board to a crossing being required to be put acress an open ditch in the bottom street in the Bush, as the occupiers of sections cannot cross. I may mention that the entrance from the river bed to the Bush is in a bad state at present, and at a little expense it could be greatly improved. The two lamps have been procured and fixed in their places, as authorised. The footpath towards the railway station is getting in fair order for tarring again, and if the Board thinks of doing more tarring, it would be advisable to ascertain if sufficient tar could be procured when required. George Rose, Overseer to Board. On tho motion of Mr Rathbone, seconded by Mr Scrimgeour, tho report was referred to the works committee. TOWN LEVELS Mr Gilmour submitted the plans of the town levels. It was resolved to hold over consideration of the matter until the next meeting of the Board. LEAVE OF ABSENCE. The town clerk applied for leave of absence on account of ill health. Leave Leave granted for three weeks. PAY SHEET. The pay sheet, amounting to £35 13s, was passed for payment.
