Ormondville Town Board.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Ormondville Town Board took place on Tuesday evening and gave rise to a considerable amount of discussion but very little business.

Mr Forward objected to the minutes being confirmed because, he said, money had been voted for a road in Ormondville whereas there was not sufficient money to credit of that road to enable the work to be done. However, the minutes were duly passed, and then Mr Forward raised a discussion upon the amount|of the rate, whether it was to be 3d or 6d. o ne member said he was in favor of a 3d rate because it was easier paid than a 6d one. (I should say that was a fact.) However after a bit of a wrangle it was decided to leave things as they are, from which it is understood that a 6d rate will be collected. Another matter Mr Forward objected to was the expenditure, of which he contended Makatoku had not had a a fair share. He was certain that some of the Mukatoku thirds had been expended in Ormondville, and with a view to ascertaining the factte he would move that the clerk be instructed to write to the Land Offce asking for a detailed statement of the amount paid in thirds during the last five years. This was seconded by Mr Redward and carried. Mr Falconer read a statement showing at Ormondville tbe receipts had been £504 48 7d and the expenditure £ll9 9s 3d, plus half of Fothergill’s road £245 lls 2d. At Makatoku the receipts had been £778 I4s sd, and the expenditure £377 16s 7d as well as £245 lls 2d, half cost of FothergilPs Road. Mr Forward thought the statement was false, but the Chairman maintained otherwise. After a considerable dose of eloquence and questions as to parliamentary practice the subject dropped. It was resolved to call for tenders for works on Bedingfield Road and Capper Street, and the Board then adjourned.
