KAIKORA.
(own correspondent)
The Kaikora North Town Board met yesterday in the Mechanics’ Institute. Present—Messrs C. Clark (chair), Merry - lees, Mundell, and Pettit. There was no business beyond confirming the action of the Chairman in attending some minor matters of road repairing. The annual meeting of the subscribers to the Mechanics’ Institute will be held this evening in the Institute at 8 p.m. to receive the annual report and elect the officers for the ensuing year. This institution is deserving of a great deal more support than it receives, aod, as I believe it is the intention of the committee to make an effort towards paying off the debt on the building it is to be hoped that the subscribers will roll up in force. The ordinary monthly meeting of the School Committee will also be held this evening at 7.30 p.m., and the Patangata Road Board will meet on Saturday, 6th iust., at 2 p.m.
