NAPIER NOTES.
(by telegraph.) — i W-A (own correspondent.) This Day: At a meeting of farmers at Hastings last night it was decided to form a Farmers’ Club, the objects of which would be the mutual protection of growers of every description of produce ; to make a special feature of assisting producers to the best possible advantage for the advancement of agriculture in all its branches ; to promote co-operaiion and amalgamation between all bodies interested in the success of agricuE .e ; and, finally, to bring tbe united powers of the farmers to bear upon all grievances unduly weighing upon the land, such as exorbitant interest, rates, and charges, caused by financial, shipping, and other monopolists. A man was sentenced to three days’ in Napier gaol this morning for being found without lawful excuse on the premises of the police station at Hastings. The School Committee have decided in future to give no holidays on race days.
