Waipawa School Committee.
The usual monthly meeting was held last evening. Mr Bibby, the chairman, being unavoidably absent, Mr Collett was voted to the chair. The minutes were confirmed. Correspondence was received from the Education Board re Midsummer holidays, and proposing that tfcey should extend from December 23rd to January 2‘Jtli, but giving the committee full power to alter if necessary. After consideration, it was resolved on the motion of Messrs Wittington and Eccles, that with the approval of the head roaster, the holidays extend from the 17th December to Junuary 22nd. From the same, thanking the Rev. J. C. Eccles for acting as supervisor at the r *cent examination in Standards V and Vf.
The head master’s report was read and considered. With it was enclosed a list of attendances for the month, which shewed the average ns lower than it ought to bo. The committee were unanimous in their opinion that it was useless to give any more warnings to parents, and that on the school committee reassembling after the holidays nil defaulters would be firoceedcd against, in accordance with the aw, and without further notice. Mr Collett referred to the amicable feeling which existed between the head master and the committee, which ho highty approved of. On his motion, seconded by Mr Whittington, it was resolved that the secretary be requested to convoy the cordial thunks of the committee to Mr Williamson and liis assistant nnd pupil teachers for the successful manner in which their labors lrrd resulted during the year. As evidenced by the children at the examination, and by the highly favorable report of the inspector on the “ admirable working efficiency of the school.” Accounts of £3 18s 9d to Messrs Jull and Co. and 7s to Mr G. Abrahams, were passed for payment and the meeting then adjourned.
