The total quantity offered since the opening of the present series is 86,600 bales ; the withdrawals amount to 7000 bales. November 30. At to-day’s wool sale the catalogue comprised 8300 bales. The market continues firm, with an active demand. The publisher of the Tyrone (Ireland) Courier has been arrested for printing and issuing placards proclaiming the views of the National Leaguo. December 1. The trial of Michael O'Donnell, for the wilful murder of James Carey, the Irish informer, at Port Elizabeth in July last, was finished to-day. The prisoner was found guilty, and was sentenced to death. Paris, November 30. A serious accident occurred to-day on the railway line near Monntfort, Brittany. Eighteen lives have been lost by the disaster, and fifteen passengers are suffering from serious injuries. w The Government have decided to send reinforcements to De Brazza, who is engaged forming French trading stations on the Congo. Cairo, November 30. Intelligence has been received here that of the large body of gensdarme recently despatched to Suakin, one half have deserted when only half way on the journey. The news has caused some alarm for the safety of the people in Upper Egypt, who are menaced by the rebels. Alexandria, December 1. In view of the state of affairs in Upper Egypt, H.M.S. Invincible has arrived at this port, and will remain to watch the progress of events. Hobart, December 1. The Tasmanian Navigation Company’s steamship Tasman, 711 tons, struck on a rock near Cape Pillar, on the coast of this colony, yesterda}*, and sank shortly afterwards in deep water. The passengers and crew were saved in boats.
