Two Weddings of Interest

WALLACE—BROWN

Of wide interest among a large circle of Cambridge friends was the wedding of Elizabeth Treves, youngest daughter of Mr and the late Mrs W. Brown, of Herne Bay, Auckland, and Graham Albert Wallace, son of Mr and Mrs J. A. Wallace, Takapuna, Auckland. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. Beere, at All Saints’ Church, Ponsonby, and was fully choral. Miss Brown had been a member of both the choir and Sunday School for a number of years. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Don Brown, made a charming picture in a slim fitting frock of off-white cloque cut with a square neckline outlined in pearls. Her train of uncut tulle was held in place with tiny rosebuds over each ear. She’ carried a beautiful sheaf of white gladioli and carnations. Maiding the bride were Misses Francis Wallace, sister of the bridegroom, of Auckland, and Miss Flora Plummer, also of Auckland. They weer frocked alike in gowns of floral marquisette cut on similar lines to the bride’s frock and worn with gold underskirt. They carried sheafs of pink and gold gladioli and carnations and wore sprays of matching flowers in their hair.

The dainty little flower girl, Judith Bassett, niece of the bride, looked very sweet in her pink and gold frock cut on the same lines 'as the bridesmaids.

Duties of best man were carried out by Mr Rex Speedy, and Mr Edward Webb, of Cambridge, was groomsman. The reception was held at the home of Mr and Mrs Don Brown, Epsom. Mrs Brown received the guests in a very smart tailored off-white suit and was assisted by her sister Mrs Bassett who wore a green ensembie and accessories. Mrs Wallace wore a blue floral frock with white accessories:

For going away the bride chose a royal blue suit with ecru hat, bag and gloves. The gifts of the _ bridegroom to the bridesmaids were silver initialled trinket boxes and a gold bangle to the little flower girl. Mr and Mrs Wallace will make their future home at “Acacia,” Maungatautari, Cambridge.

BLAYNEY—HICKS Guests travelled from Auckland and further afield to be present at the wedding in St. Andrew’s Church, Cambridge, of Shirley Hart, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. H. Hicks, of Maungatautari, Cambridge, and Garry Francis, only son of Mr and Mrs F. A. Blayney, of Morningside, Auckland. The Minister was the Rev. Kenneth Liggett. The church was decorated with attractive bowls of pink and blue flowers. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of tea-tose lace and satin, with high round neck, gathered lace bodice and puff sleeves, wide-fitting waist band and gathered three-tiered skirt of tea rose satin. The bottom tier formed a shell-scal-loped train edged with a frilling as were the headings of the tiered skirt. A beautiful old pearl necklace was worn. An heirloom veil of honiton lace, lent by the bride’s grandmother formed a second train. It was held by a top-knot of matching flowers. The bride carried a crescent of cream water-lilies.

The three bridesmaids, Misses Rosanne and Vivienne Hicks, sisters of the bride, and Miss Lynne P'rothero, a cousin, were frocked alike. They wore full-skirted, puff sleeved, picture frocks of rosebud pink organdie, embossed with tiny white sprigs, and made with tight-fitting bodices and low cut round neck-lines, enhanced by a wide frill. Trimming the skirts was a frilling forming a deep “V” at front and back. Each carried a small frilled organdie bag on her wrist. A frilling of organdie across the front of the hair behind sprays of sweetheart roses formed their headdresses. The bridesmaids carried trailing bouquets of roses, gerberas and larkspurs in matching pink with touches of white. Janet Hicks, a cousin of the bride was flower girl, being frocked similarly to the bridesmaids, but with a frill at the bottom of her full skirt.

Mr Dawson Donaldson was best man and Mi- Jim Weston the groomsman. The ushers were Messrs Maurice Walker and Robin Hicks. A reception was held at the Parish Hall, where beautifully arranged flowers in pink and blue adorned the tables. The guests were received by Mrs W. H. Hicks and Mrs F. A. Blavney. Mrs Hicks wore a cinnamon brown crepe suit with dark brown accessories, and she carried a pastel pink bouquet. Mrs Blayney chose a tan suit with matching hat, her ensemble being set off with a bouquet of flowers in red tones. The bride’s two grandmothers were present. Mrs A. M. Hicks wore a floral silk frock under a black coat, and Mrs N. Beedell was wearing a pink and black sheer frock with black accessories.
