Te Miro Sports Club’s Ambitious Programme

Tre Te Miro Sports club''will bold its eighth annual sports on February 25, and arrangements are in full swing for the most ambitious programme yet to be undertaken by this local sports organisation. A recent committee meeting finalised the day’s schedule and several new features are to be added. Among these will be wrestling matches between the boxing events and a musical ride display by some of the crack pony club teams in full costume. The local Municipal and Calerl -man bands are invited and a ui splay by marching girls teams is being arranged. The usual athletic and horse events will be continued while extra space is being provided for the large contingent ot jxyiy club enthusiasts expected to be in attendance.

Despite the clashing of dates with the New Zealand Rowing Championships last year over a thousand people attender and preparations double that number this year. There are no local fixtuies to compete for attendance on the date provided. The club > s expending about £2OO on trophies and prize-money this year in fulfilment of its policy to expand its programme as permitted by the excellent response of competitors and publicalike over the past years. A matter of concern to tlic club has been the small number of entries in some of the athletic events in the last two years and athletics and their clubs interested in competing would assist the day’s sports if they would notify the secretary Mr 4. H. Bam forth of their intentions of entering for these events. Prior notification will enable an expansion if necessary of the athletic programme and still enable post entries to ’be taken in all events.
