INFORMATION CONCERNING BANDED BIRDS

Investigations in the Manawatu into the migration of wildfowl have been planed by the Minister of Internal Affirs, Mr Parry. He said that last yeaj mallard and grey duck were banded, and a large proportion of the bands was re 4 trieved from shot birds. Such valuable’information was obtained that the work this year has been extended, about 1000 ducks having been handed, said the Minister. I Mallard and some of the pheasants liberated from the Government game farm at Ngongotaha, Rotorua, had also been banded, and the same co-operation was sought. Bands from birds shot in the Cambridge district may be handed into Mr G. Smith, the secretary of the local branch of the Acclimatisation Society.
