Three Hockey Matches at Square Tomorrow

The increasing enthusiasm of hockey in Cambridge is shown by the fact that three matches are set down to be played on Victoria Square tomorrow afternoon. Hockey has boomed at several periods of Cambridge's history, with keenness among both men and women. For various reasons, but namely the difficulty of obtaining suitable playing areas, the sport has not been kept going regularly up till now. Last year a club was formed and :\ team entered in the Hamilton competitions, but no matches were played in Cambridge. With an increase in interest, the club has three teams:—senior, junior and ladies—and these will be seen in action in competition matches at the Square tomorrow. In the first game at 12.45 p.m., the Cambridge Ladies will play Tainui, the local team being Misses J. Halliday, J. Garrard, D. McDonald, G. Garrard, D. Gray, J. Hjorth, B. May, H. McKinnon, B. McKinnon, B. Batchelor and E. Christie. Reserve Miss K. Reynolds. The Junior team which Avill play Technical Old Boys at 1.30 will be J. Cornier, B. Riley, R, Familton, K. Paton, T. Fitten, B. Omerod, S. Wright, A. Prowse, Frost, Clark, K. Johnstone, Mcintosh. A good showing is expected from the senior team, which will be at full strength to play Arawa, at 3 p.m. The team will be D. Dillon, C. Higgins, C. Clark, M. Glanville, N. Robson, G. Leversedge, D. McKinnon, S. Phillip, R. Huston, R. Speedy and L. McKinnon. Any player not available is asked to ring 171 s. All intending players are requested to be at the Square tomorrow.
