Clerk of the Course Retires after 50 Year' Service

]\/TR. R. Casey, a popular figure with racegoers, will act as clerk of the course for the last time at the Waikato Racing Club’s Autumn meeting this month. He has handed in his resignation to the club on the completion of 50 years’- service as its clerk of the course:' Mr Casey was appointed to the position at the age of 19, and. since then he has not missed a meeting of the club. In the early days, it was known as the South Auckland Racing Club, with headquarters at Claudelands. The name was later changed to the Waikato Racing Club, and moved to Te Rapa in 1924. For some years Mr Casey was also clerk of the course for the Waikato Trotting Club.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mr and Mrs G. F. Sim on the birth of their second child, a daughter, were extended at the annual meeting of the Waikato Electorate of the National Party in Cambridge yesterday.

Tl/TRS J. Wallace, of Bruntwood, has been appointed relieving teacher at the Cambridge District High School, pending the appointing ’of a successor to Mr D. S. Mackenzie.

AT the annual meeting of the Cambridge Sub-Centre of the Red Cross on Monday, it was decided to forward letters to Mrs Wallace, of the Hautapu School and Mrs Duckering, of Goodwood School, both of whom are leaving the district, for the splendid work they had done for the Junior Red Cross.
