Cambridge Rowing Club Now Affiliated

Interesting general information concerning rowing, and of particular interest the affiliation of the. Cambridge Club are contained in the minutes of a recent meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, which have been received in Cambridge. Under the heading "Cambridge Rowing Club—Affiliation," the minutes state: "The Auckland Association advised that at an extraordinary special general meeting of members of the ' Cambridge Boating Club (Rowing Section) and other persons interested in rowing, held in' Cambridge on February 23, 1949, it was unanimously agreed that a separate and distinct rowing club be formed, having no connection whatsoever with the Cambridge Boating Club and complying with the N.Z. Rowing Association's definition of an amateur, such club to be styled 'The Cambridge Rowing Club.' "The affiliation of the Cambridge Rowing Club with the N.Z. Amateur Rowing Association was confirmed by the council, the new club to be attached to the Auckland Rowing Association. The club colours of dark blue and light blue vertical stripes were approved." It was pointed out that all'donation money from this event would have to be held by the Auckland Association until the appeal was finalised. The appeal from Marlborough, which was detailed at some length, had as its basis that no competing crew should be disqualified for .crossing an imaginary line, which it was understood was the basis of the umpire's uuling.
