Houses Built of Hinuera Stone
INSPECTED BY MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT .VISIT TO CAMBRIDGE A visit to Cambridge was included in a tour made yesterday by six Members of Parliament, who were in the Waikato to consider the merits of Hinuera and Putaruru stone, for building purposes. The Members were Mrs H. Ross, Messrs W. E. Parry, A. Baxter, G. F. Sim, W. Sullivan and D. M. Rae. {,, , After morning tea at Tirau, a meeting was held, where they were met by representatives of various local bodies, including the Matamata County Council, Matamata R.S.A., Matamata Chamber of Commerce, Putaruru Borough Council and Tokoroa Town Board. The party moved on to Putaruru and the stone houses and quarry were inspected there. From there a visit was made to Mr and Mrs G. H. Vosper's beautiful stone home at Maungatautari, where they were entertained to lunch. The members were greatly impressed with the homestead, and the value of the stone for building purposes, and it is probable that the matter will be discussed in Parliament wn%n the House resumes. .
