Mr J. R. McKenzie Wins Four Races

SOUTHERNERS AT EPSON NYALLO SCOTT'S FINE EFFORT Four of the eight races at the Auckland Trotting Club's Meeting on Saturday were won by Mr J. R. McKenzie, the South Island owner. The oustanding effort was that of Nyallo Scott who took the Ferguson Handicap from 96yds behind, beating Lone Raider and Single Direct. Nyallo Scott and Highland Fling will compromise a strong bracket for the comprise a strong bracket for the month. It was a good performance on the part of the trotter Fantom, to beat •a good field in the Futiki Handicap. He is no doubt the best trotter in commissioin in the Dominion today. In second place was Indian Triumph, with the Cambridge trained Lord Brooklyn third. Mr McKenzie's other winners were Commander Scott and Bobbie Burns. Cambridge hopes centred on Don Parrish in the opening event but he broke when handily placed turning for home and dropped out of the contest. The winner was Great Venture, who had won on the opening day. Legionnaire went another good race for second, with Reclamation a fair third. The two-mile trot went to Vindictive Lady, who finished on. to beat Fairy Wings by half a length, with Maxee, who is likely to be an early winner, third, and Noble Star fourth. The win of Popular Girl in the Oneroa Handicap occurred shortly before the owner, Mr W. H. Oliver, died in hospital as the result of an accident on the training track at Claudelands earlier this month. Mr Ob'v was well known in Cambridge, being closely connected' with the Owners' trainers' and Breeders' Association. The concluding event resulted in a run-away win for Captain Gaillard, who beat his stablemate, Bonnie Jack by six lengths. Nyallo Scott ' was third after a slow beginning.
