Good Showing by High School Cadets
ARMY BOARD INSPECTION A; , . ANNUAL CONTEST FOR CUP t The Cambridge District High School Cadet Company was inspected by an Army Board on Tuesday in connection with section four of the “Imperial Daughters of the Empire” Cup. This section is open to . units of less than 100. cadets, and each Military Area nominates its most efficient unit for final judging in the district competition. Area 4 (Hamilton nominated the Cambridge Company, the other unit finalists being Ngatea (Area 3), Howick (Area 2), and Kaitaia (Area !).
The Board consisted of Major Pearce, G.S.O 11. N.M.D., Captain L. R. Musgrave, Senior Training Officer, Papakura, Captain B. *J. McGregor, of N.M.D., H.Q., Lieut Kennedy, Staff Officer Training, Papakura, Captain Trenwith, N.Z. Corps of Signals. The programme, which lasted two hours, ponsisted of a company parade and inspection, a period of training activities of all kinds, followed by a march past in review ■ order. The salute was taken by Major Pearce; on the saluting base with him were the headmaster, Mr S. B. Dunn, M.A., and the O.C. Cadets, Lieut. D. S. Mackenzie. * . ■
The signals section, , under \ 2nd Lieutenant J. H.. Yolland, • was inspected while establishing a field telephone exchange and telephone circuits. • '' -
At the conclusion of the programme Major Pearce complimented the company on its steadiness on parade arid stated that,’ while the result of the competition was still •to be decided, the Cambridge Company would be very , .'fpfe the final award. . ‘
