Lewis and J( Blackman, members respectively of the Cambridge Borough Councj/and Leamington Town Boards, jhafve definitely indicated they will tot be seeking reelection at the November Local Body Elections. * w * * / Mr Lewis, in more than one period, has been a member of the/ Borough Council for a total of twelve year-3. He first became a menroer of the borough council away/back in 1909, when the late W.\F/Bucland was in what was to be his last* term as Mayor. At the same time as MiLewis joined the council so did Mr Mervyn Wells, the present DeputyMayor. Mr Lewis was honoured with the position of Chief Citizen of the Borough in 1921 and held that office for the two-year period. After that Mr Lewis was engaged in other public and personal interests and he did not return to -the council until this present period. Over the years Mr Lewis "has been a valued member. He joined the Board at the time the late Mr Tom Hicks was chairman. For the past three and a-half years Mr Blackman has ably occupied that office. As we stated in Friday's issue Mr Blackman's decision to retire is because he feels he cannot give the necessary time to the increasing responsibilitv of the office. For that reason he feels he should make way for some other person.
