Keen Sale of Jersey Bulls

MORELAND & SONS’ OFFERING TOP PRICE OF 230 GUINEAS Sixty-eight well-bred Jersey bulls ‘made the good average of 50 guineas at the first annual sale held at Beechlands’ Homestead on Tuesday. They were sold on account of Messrs A. Moreland & Sons and Mr H. Moreland and from their Beechlands and Royton Jersey Studs respectively. There was a good attendance and the bench was a representative one, with breeders from as far away as Invercargill. The 'Sale was conducted by the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited in conjunction with the Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, with Mr F. M. Harkness in the rostrum. The top figure for the sale was 230 guineas, paid by Mr W. Mears, of Walton, for the fine yearling bull, Beechlands Royal Fete, by Abbeville Royal Peter from Beechlands Freeborn; v.h.c.. Other sales were 100 guineas paid by Dr. C. Crawford, of Invercargill, for Royton Highborn, a 2-year-old. Mr T. Mortensen, of Pm Pio, bought Beechlands Bonny Peter, a yearling by Abbeville. Cambridge district purchases were: Mr L. A. Whitelaw, 60 guineas for Beechlands Dark Heir; J. N. Todd, 53 guineas for Beechlands Royal Fort; Messrs Cox Bros., 53 guineas for Beechlands Xenia’s Peter; Mr D. M. Bourke, 46 guineas for Beechlands Sparkler. '
