Cambridge Honours Its All Black

KEITH ARNOLD FAREWELLED PRESENTATION DANCE Cambridge has not been lax as regards showing Mr Keith Arnold, newly selected All Black, its appreciation of his achievement in''winning the highest honours in Rugby. Mr G. F. Sim, M.P., endorsed Mr Moore’s remarks. He referred to the natural pride of Mr Arnold’s parents on such an occasion. He added that Waikato was justly proud of Keith Arnold, and felt sure he would repre- , sent the province and his home town with dignity while on tour. The chairman of the Cambridge Rugby Union, Mr C. G. Wallace, stated that Rugby enthusiasts, kindred sports bodies, and the people of Cambridge generally, had rallied together in seeking to recognise Mr Arnold’s performance. He stated that the Kiwi tour had taught selectors to : comb country areas for talent, and stated there was no reason why Keith Arnold should not later tour South Africa, and mentioned the possibilities as regards the district producing sfuture international players. Mr Moore then presented Mr Arn<old with a substantial cheque on be;half of all concerned, and wished him well in Australia.

Following prolonged applause, Mr Arnold suitably replied. He stated he would do his best to represent Cambridge worthily and added that he would endeavour to foster local Rugby on his return. He also expressed appreciation of the .gesture made to his mother and wife, and extended thanks to the many workers who had made the function so successful. Mr Arnold leaves Cambridge tomorrow and will travel by plane to Australia on Friday.
