CAMBRIDGE'S UNUSUAL INCREASE LEAMINGTON UP 93. Waikato towns from which census returns are available all show an increase in population. In most other areas, however, where figures have been released a decrease is revealed. Morrinsville borough, with a return of 2164, shows an increase of 368 over the 1936 figure of 1796. Ngaruawahia borough returns also give evidence of the growth of the Waikato, the increase in population there being 211. The recent census revealed a population in Ngaruawahia of 1605 against 1394 in 1936. Leamington town district with a return of 638 shows an increase of 93. Owing to the proximity of the Karapiro hydro electric works, Cambridge is expected to show an increase in population, as is Te Awamutu, while many expect a large increase as far as Hamilton is concerned.
