HOME GUARD ENROLMENTS APPEAL COMMITTEE SET UP Although the period allowed for the enrolment in the Home Guard of all male British subjects who have attained the age of 35 years but have not yet attained the age of 51 years, haVe since been coming in in a steady stream .at the Cambridge Post Office.
“ They are still coming in by the hundred.” a Post Office official said on Monday. Up to that time 360 had been received, but at the time of going to press to 7 day only another 23 had been added. Captain R. S. Entwistle, adjutant of the Cambridge Battalion, will represent the Home Guard on the committee being set up to hear appeals against compulsory service in the Home Guard. Mr A. C. Wallis, controller of supplies, will represent the E.P.S. organisation. A representative of the Manpower Committee will Complete the committee. All men between the ages mentioned who fail to comply with their obligations render themselves liable to prosecution under the National Service Emergency Regulations, 1940. There are certain exemptions to the obligation to apply, and these have already appeared in the press. If a person is in any doubt he should send in an application: if he is within an exempted class he will not be called up.
