HERD TESTING STATISTICS

LAST YEAR’S' RESULTS

The following are extracts taken from the annual report of the Auckland Herd Improvement Association ,

Herd Recording Charges for 194142 Season: No alteration has been m,ade in the scale of recording charges for the coming season, and the fees will be on exactly the same basis as last season, viz.: (a) Herds consisting of 46 cows and over, herd fee £4 14/-, plus 3/5 per cow; (b) herds consisting of less than 46 cows, herd fee of £l, plus 5/- per cow, with a minimum charge of £6.

Association’s Averages: The past season has been an excellent one from the point of view of production, and the Association’s average of 277.751b5b fat easily constitutes a record for the organisation. Highest Herds The following are the productions of the highest herds in the various sections: No. Cows

Highest Group The committee wishes to heartily congratulate members of the Kaipaki Group on their excellent performance in heading the list of group averages for the season. This group comprised 11 herds, representing 625 cows, with an average of 6,7971bs milk, 338.01bs fat in 280 days. This result constituted a record group average for the Association. Highest Cow The highest cow on twice-a-day milking under test during the season was a pedigree Jersey .which registered 11,8201bs milk, 6.18 test, 73Ubs fat in 365 days. The Association also tested a pedigree Friesian cow which produced 24,0001bs milk, 4.04 test, 9691bs fat in 365 days, but this cow was on three-times-a-day milking for a portion of the season.
