ADVANCE PARTY
THE CAMP AT CAMBRIDGE ARRIVAL THIS MORNING Four officers and 72 men of the Ist Battalion, 16th Waikato Regiment, arrived in Cambridge this morning as an advance party tor the territorial camp which will mobilise at the racecourse next Tuesday. Major S. E. Senior, M.C., will be in charge of the preparations, and the other officers are Lieutenant C. A. Voss, Lieutenant W. S. Dingle and Second Lieutenant K. E. Londen.
Apart from the eleven Cambridge men, who went straight to c the racecourse, the members of the advance party assembled at the Hamilton Drill Hall at 8 o’clock this morning, and were transported immediately to Cambridge. Work has been commenced on -the erection of 130 tents on the polo ground, for the 500 men who will encamp on Tuesday. Request for Furnishings
Several Cambridge people have responded to the request for the loan of old furniture and floor coverings for the officers’ mess and the sergeants’ mess. Carpets, rugs or strips of linoleum to cover the concrete floors will be welcomed, as
well as easy chairs. j People willing to lend furnishings j to the camp are asked to communicate with The Waikato Independent Office and the articles will be col- i lected by the camp transport early I next week.
