WAIKATO AIRPORT
AN AGREEMENT REACHED PURCHASE OF THE SITE The Cambridge, Hamilton, Huntly and Morrinsville Boroughs and the Waipa, Waikato and Raglan Comities have reached an agreement with respect to the purchase of the Rukuhia aerodrome for the Waikato Air Board, and arrangements are being made for the purchase of adjoining property to bring the area up to the required size. The Hamilton Borough Council has written to the Public Works Department advising that it had obtained, authority to raise the loan required to purchase the land, and was taking steps to acquire the properties. , Once the land has been purchased, the department will do the work required to level the land and form it into a modern aerodrome. ••RDLis-ON- GOLF LINKS REMOVAL IF POSSIBLE POWER BOARD DECISION The electric poles on the Cambridge golf course were discussed at Wednesday night’s meeting of the Cambridge Power Board. The chairman, Mr Mervyn Wells, asked the engineer, Mr H. C. Oaten, if it would he possible to shift the poles, particularly those on the 11th fairway. Mr Oaten stated that the line had been run through the golf course to save cutting down a row of tall poplar trees along the roadside. He
agreed to investigate the possibility of shifting the poles. A number of the poplar trees would have to be cut, he said.
