OBITUARY

MR HAROLD D, REESE PROMINENT CAMBRIDGE FARMER The death occurred suddenly at his residence, Fencourt, on Tuesday of Mr Harold Daldy (Jum) Reese, a prominent Cambridge farmer, aged 56 years.

The late Mr Reese was a. son of the late Mr and Mrs Alex Reese, and was born at Masterton. He spent his early life at Pahiatua and came to Cambridge 32 years ago. He was first engaged in contracting work and, .later he, joined the staff of Roberts and Brocklesj?y, butchers.

■ With his brother,;he farmed an area of 800 acres ;in. the Hinuera Valley and later he was farming at French Pass. He took up his Fencourt property in 1921. In earlier days, Mr Reese was a prominent Rugby forward. At the age of 16, he was a representative player for the Forty-mile Bush district and subsequently represented Rangitikei, Manawatu, Horowhenua, Grey, Buller, Waikato and Cambridge. He was greatly interested in all athletics.

In 1911, Mr Reese was married in Cambridge to Miss Ella Graham. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, one sOn, Bruce, and one daughter, Miss Nora Reese, also two brothers and four sisters. They are: Messrs Arthur A. Reese (Te Awamutu), Edgar H. Reese ('Hamilton), Mesdames W. Dick (Pahiatua), A, Forbes (Manawahae), S. Treloar (Hamilton) and W. Riddell (Hamilton). The funeral.-will leave his late residence at two o'clock this afternoon for the Cambridge Cemetery. AN INQUEST HELD An inquest was held by Mr F. W. Platts, S.M., yesterday afternoon, when a verdict was returned that the late !Mr Reese had died as a result of suffocation, caused by falling face downwards on newly ploughed land, while in an epileptic fit.

Evidence was given by '>•' "• £• Tod and Mrs Reese, that the deceased had suffered from fits at odd times, when he had usually fallen on his face. '
