ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

MEETING OF COMMITTEE

In the first week, that the new ambulance of the Cambridge St. John Society was in use last month, four cases were transported to hospital. It was reported by Superintendent P. T. Glanville at a meeting of the committee on Thursday evening that the performance of the new chassis and the comfort of the ambulance was very satisfactory. Superintendent Glanville reported that his brigade had recently commenced < operations for the new year, when there was an attendance of 24 keen members.

The chairman, Mr H. E. Amyes, spoke of the social evening held in December, which he said had been very successful and had served the purpose for which it had been organised. He hoped that further socials would be held.

Mr Amyes explained the scheme organised by the New Zealand Commandery, 'Wellington, to raise £50,000 in aid of the St. John Ambalance Association by means of a baby carnival. The executive agreed to assist the scheme as far as possible, but it w&S Telt4hat with Hamilton the centre of this district, the extra expense incurred by Cambridge entrants would result in few local entries. Mr R. S. Entwistle, who had resigned from the position of secretary, was asked to reconsider his decision, and he agreed to continue until the annual meeting in April.
