ST. PETER’S SCHOOL

NEW YEAR COMMENCED THIRTEEN NEW PUPILS St. Peter’s School commenced its fifth year yesterday, when pupils assembled from all parts ol New Zealand to continue their studies after the long vacation. There are also ten pupils from Fiji and Tonga, and one from the Malay States. There is one change in the school staff, Miss T. H. Savin, of Auckland, having been appointed an infant teacher. Mr A. M. B. Lenton, who joined the staff in 1938, has enlisted and is in camp at Narrow Neck. Mr A. F. B. Broadhurst, M.A., Oxon., is headmaster and the Rev. C. W. Chandler, Th.L. (Sydney) is the chaplain.. The teaching stall consists of Mr R. R. Gibson, Mr A. K. Hancock, Mr O. P. Gabites, Mr 1,. G. Stanford, 8.A., Oxon., Mus. Bac. (N.Z)., F.T.C.L., L.R.S.M., Dr W. Frank (Innsbruck), Miss T. H. Savin, Miss A. Lippincott (Art), Miss J. G. Billing, Dip. Mus. (N.Z.), L. L.R.S.M. (Music), Mr C. E. Can.ty, ex-petty officer, Royal Navy (gymnastic instructor). House Staff: Sister G. M. Swears (matron), Miss E. I. Waddell (housekeeper), Sister S. 1. King (assistant matron), Mr R. R. Gibson (burser), Miss L. M. Talbot, B.A. (N.Z.), secretary. Thirteen new pupils have joined the school this year, filling the places of those who have passed the preparatory school age.
