GENERAL SYNOD

MEETING IN NELSON WAIKATO REPRESENTATIVES When the General Synod of the Church of England assembles next Wednesday, 14th February, at Nelson, the Waikato Diocese will be represented by the Venerable Archdeacon Gillespie, of Morrinsville (Archdeacon of Waikato), the Venerable Archdeacon Gavin, of Taranaki, an.d the Rev. C. W. Chandler, Vicar of Cambridge. The Archbishop of Sydney, the Most Rev. Dr Mowle, will preach the Synod sermon, and among the important matters to be discussed will be that of a successor to Archbishop Averill as Primate of New Zealand. A recommendation will be presented by a special committee for the fixing of the Primacy in. Wellington, and it is expected that a great deal of interest will be aroused as a result. Mr Chandler will leave Cambridge on Sunday night for Nelson. He will be accompanied by Mrs Chandler.
