PRICE OF BUTTERFAT

HIGHER ADVANCE PAYMENT SUPPLIES FROM FEBRUARY 1. A decision to increase the ad-; vance payment for butterfat by id a lb. for supplies from February 1 was made at a meeting of the South Auckland Dairy Association, held in Hamilton. Companies in the area will pay out 1/2* for finest butterfat for butter manufacture, and 1/4 for first grade butterfat for cheese manufacture. The increase was recommended in a motion proposed by Mr R. H. McKenzie, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, who said he thought the increase was due. The "Shipping appears to be fairly safe now," commented the chairman, Mr S. A. Ferguson.
