WAIKATO HUNT CLOSING MEET HELD FUNDS FOR SPORTS QUEEN All anxious thoughts concentrated on the weather" by hunting enthusiasts were put at rest when Saturday dawned bright, with fitful bursts of sunshine, for the closing day of the Waikato Hunt. The meet was held at "The Kennels," the home of the Master, Mr Wynn Brown. The Master's daughter, Miss Rhoda Brown, assisted by Mrs Ned Brown and 'Mrs L. L. Orr, entertained the riders and spectators to afternoon tea on. the lawn at "Ngaheke." The function served a double purpose. To swell the funds for the Sports Queen, visitors were invited to stay on for a buffet tea, which was served in a large marquee. Dance in the Evening Gay with the sound of music and merry-making, the Town Hall was the scene of a very bright dance which followed in the evening, as a fitting and enjoyable climax for a good day's sport. MATANGI WEDDING KIDD—SHAW The marriage was solemnised at the Matangi Church recently between Gladys <Melva, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Shaw, of "Wartle," Matangi, and Lloyd Scott, younger son of Mr and Mrs R. Kidd, of Te Miro. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. L. French, and Miss Mavis Shaw played the wedding music. The church had been beautifully arranged by friends of the bride with bowls of pink and. white flowers, and a cream wedding bell was suspended over the bridal party.

The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a charming frock of ivory satin beaute, cut on classical lines. The bodice, fashioned with a high neckline, which was finished with a cowled collar ending in deep points at the back, was allied to a skirt simply cut to fall into a long circular train. Tiny sal in-covered buttons trimmed the frock at the back, and the long sleeves which tapered to points over the hands. Over this fell her beautiful veil of ivory em- ■ broidered tulle, held in place with »a head-dress of orange blossom and j falling softly to form a second | train. She carried a shower bou|quet of carnations, sweet peas and maidenhair fern.

In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Kitty Miller and Miss Elsie Shaw, sister of the bride. They wore frocks of ivory stiffened lace over satin, cut on classical lines, with heart-shaped necklines, and short puffed sleeves. Shoulderlength tulle veils, falling from topnots of silver flowers, formed their head-dresses and they carried bou.quets of pink sweet peas, carnations, stocks and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Rex Gear, of Auckland, as best man., and Mr Ned Hall, of Cambridge, as groomsman. Messrs R.

The Centreway Tearooms, where the reception was held, following the ceremony, were artistically arranged with bowls of Iceland poppies. The guests were received by Mrs Shaw, who was wearing a smart rush knitted suit, with brown accessories. She carried a posy of violets. She was assisted by Mrs Kidd, who wore a navy tailored costume with navy accessories. She j carried a posy of violets.

When Mr and Mrs Kidd left by car for the wedding trip, the bride travelled in a lagoon-blue knitted frock, blue swagger coat and navy accessories.

They will make their home at Te 'M'iro, Cambridge.
