McCULLAGH MEMORIAL
WATER TROUGH AT MATAMATA MEMORY OF AUCTIONEER A large circular concrete watertrough has been erected at the Matamata saleyards by a committee of friends of the late Mr George McCullagh, of Cambridge, as a tribute to his memory, states the Matamata Record. The cost has been; met with a balance of funds which the memorial committee had in hand, it being held that such a provision for driven stock was a most fitting memorial to one who loved and appreciated all animals:so much. A suitable plate is to be affixed to the trough which is not yet in use. Mr McCullagh was one of the pioneer auctioneers. of., the . Auckland Province; more than that, he was philosopher on farming and a guidance to struggling farmers in the early days....
