EFFICIENT AUSTRIAN WOMEN
Austrian women claim to be the most independent in the world. Tlir.y say that in an emergency they could run a whole city in every detail without male assistance. Of 3.000,000 working Austrians, 1,000,000 are women, according to official statistics recently issued. Here are some examples of the numbers of women who have found their way into professions generally regarded as the monopoly of men: 33,089 farmers, 286 physicians, 214 gardeners, 210 mechanics, 101 chauffeurs, 30 carpenters, 22 engineers, 10 master locksmiths, 18 cinema operators, 4. horse dealers. In addition,, there are thousands of feminine civil servants and clerks.. .
