BRIDGE EVENING On Thursday evening Mrs G. G. L. Taylor entertained a few friends at bridge, in honour of Miss Roma Drake, who is leaving to live in Auckland. Those present were: Mrs F. C. Rogers, Misses Roma Drake, Noeline Banks, Ruth Souter, Elsie Robinson, Iva Garland, Audrey Nolan, and Joan Couper. Messrs R. Nolan, A. A. Lockett, A. Turtle, S. Hbldgate, and F. C. Rogers.

AFTERNOON FOR BRIDE-TO-BE.

The popularity of Miss Edith Holmes in the Bruntwood district, was shown by ths many friends who gathered to honour her at the residence of Mr and M'rs C. Thompson. Deck tennis and putting were played, Miss Rona Calvert being the winner of the putting competition. Afternoon tea was served on the lawn. Miss Edith Holmes was looking very smart in a coronation blue ensemble and Breton sailor hat. Mrs S. Holmes was wearing a navy blue ensemble. AFTERNOON PARTY On Thursday Mrs G. G. L. Taylor held a 'most delightful afternoon at her home in honour of Mrs A, H. Nicoll, who is.leaving on a visijt -to England, and Mrs S. N. Zirhafi,, Mrs W. Drake and Miss Drake, who.are leaving the district to live in Hani-

iiton and Auckland respectively. The guests played croquet, clock golf, "tennisquoit" or quoits. Miss A. Cox won the clock golf competition and Mrs A. N. Wrightson and Miss Black were successful in the croquet. Mrs Taylor received her guests, wearing a frock of autumn floral georgette. Mrs Nicoll wore a brown figured ensemble, Mrs Drake navy and white frock, relieved with red; Mrs Ziman, tailored pattern figured linen, and Miss Drake wore a navy and white spotted ensemble.
