PRAISE FOR BAND
EFFORTS AT RECENT CONTEST
PROMINENT CONDUCTOR'S
COMMENT
A very satisfactory and encouraging letter has been received by Mr B. H. B. Bishop, chairman of the Cambridge Municipal Band Committee, from Mr R. J. Estall, conductor of the Woolsion Brass Band, and well-known adjudicator, who congratulates the Cambridge Band on its efforts at Nelson last week. "Since arriving home from the contest," he writes, "I could not let the occasion pass without some word of praise to you t»nd yourband. In the first place it takes a great deal of courage for a band of your standard to compete at a championship contest. I really admire you for doing it, for it shows that you and your band must have a keen desire to make progress.
"When I heard your band play, I was reaily astounded at the progress the band had made since last 1 heard and adjudicated it. I feel sure that with the help of your citizens and the good solid work and loyalty of your members, the hand will reach great heights."
