TOWN HALL TALKIES

"THE TUNNEL" "The Tunnel," which will be shewn at the Town Hall Talkies this evening and to-morrow evening, is a picture possessing all the qualities that make for successful film entertainment. The story is human and dramatic; the theme, visionary in the immensity of the task —no less than driving a tunnel from England to America—the acting flawless in every respect. Richard Dix, Leslie Banks, and Madge Evans are starred.

The film depicts the construction of a sub-Atlantic tunnel. The great engineering feat is enthrallingly presented side by side with a moving emotional story of the engineer's estrangement from the Wife he neglects in order to achieve his dream. Gripping drama springs from the scene where the hero has to closs giant doors of the tunnel, knowing his own son is in the sector doomed by an explosion following the penetration of a sea-bed volcano. Final sequences see intrepid borers face death in a last gigantic and successful effort to complete the-work. The Next Change

"Whispering Smith Speaks," the adventure picture starring George O'Brien, the film for Thursday and Friday, will be screened on the same programme as "Seven Keys to Baklj pate," a stage mystery film.
