OBITUARY

MRS BERNARD McGEE

POPULAR CAMBRIDGE GIRL

It is with much regret that we have McGee, who before her marriage last year, was Miss Margaret Hicks. All her life had been spent in Cambridge, and by her sweet disposition and sterling character she was loved by a large circle of friends. Mrs McGee was born 24 years ago, being the only daughter of the late Mr and Mrs C. E. Hicks; Her mother died 16 years ago and her father five years ago. Since then she had made her home with her aunt, Miss K. G. Hicks, of Leamington. She took an active interest in th» Guide movement, and was a member of Trinity Tennis Club and St. Andrew’s Choir. Her loss is mourned by her husband, Mr Bernard McGee, who was on the staff of the Cambridge Post Office for several years, a tiny son and two brothers, Messrs Trevor and Charles Hicks.

A service will be held in St. Andrew’s Church to-morrow at 11 a.m. and the funeral will leave immediately afterwards for the Cambridge Cemetery.

TRIBUTE FROM GIRL GUIDES (By “Birdie.”)

We are very sorry to hear of the death of Mrs B. J. McGee (nee Margaret Hicks). Peg, as she was affectionately called bv her comrades, was one of the very first Girl Peace Scouts in Cambridge. She joined in 1922 and was faithful to the company for 10 years where she rose from Guide to Second and later Patrol Leader, and then for some years was Tawny Owl for the Brownies.

Though she gave up active work on account of her approaching marriage she has always retained a great interest in the doings of the Ist Cambridge Guide Company, and our heartfelt sympathy is for those who mourn her.
